Ferencvárs wins regular season

Ferenváros beat Gyergyó in a big battle as they locked up the first place in the regular season. Csíkszereda and HK Budapest went to overtime with Brasov scoring eight goals and UTE five in the Erste Liga.

FTC-Telekom-Gyergyói HK 4-3 (3-1, 1-1, 0-1)
Ferencváros was gunning for the regular season title but the game did not start well for the home team as Attila Góga scored off of a long shot. Ferencváros  parked in front of the Gyergyó net as Attila Rafaj tied the game up at 1-1. Marcus Perrier scored a power play goal to give Ferencváros the their first lead of the game, Brett Switzer tacked on a third Ferencváros goal in the period. Gyergyó came back within a goal as Elekes Darabont found the back of the net. In the 33rd minute of play Antonino Sarcia scored his first goal of the season from the top of the left faceoff circle to give Fradi the two goal lead. Ferencváros had a five minute power play as the end of the second period that they were not able to score on. With ten minutes left in the game Hunor Csergő put a rebound home to make it a one score game. This was the closest Gyergyó would get to Fradi as the Budapest team took home their first regular season title since 1995.

Szabolcs Fodor, head coach, FTC: I had three or four heart attacks on the bench today. We had to work hard today to pick up the three points today. It was close but I am glad that we picked up the three points today.

Mikael Tisell, head coach, Gyergyó: I am happy about the way my team played well despite the loss. We were in the game from start to finish against a good team. We were a bit unlucky with the first two goals against us. Our special teams did not work today.

SC Csíkszereda-HK Budapest 3-2 (0-1, 2-1, 0-0, 1-0) OT
The game was only eight seconds old as Satek scored the opening game for the visitors. The closest that Csíkszereda got to scoring in the first period was not until the closing minutes when Anisin and Panov had scoring chances. In the second period the home team started press and it paid off as Csanád Fodor put home a rebound off of a Valchar shot. In the 33rd minute Landsman made a great save on Valchar to keep the score tied. Late in the period Attila Orbán went cost to cost to give the Budapest club back the lead. In the closing minutes of the period Valchar scored on the first Csíkszereda power play of the game to tie it up at 2-2. After a scoreless third period the game went to overtime where Panov scored a break away goal as the home team took two out of the three goals.

Don MacAdam, head coach Csíkszereda: We played a horrible first period which I was not surprised about. We got ourselves together for the second period, but it was the third period where we played our best, we had more scoring chances. I want to congratulate our opponents for the pressure that they put us under.

Tamás Gröschel, head coach, HK Budapest: Not that any teams can say that they were able to pick up a point this season in this building. As the last place team. We worked really hard for this one point. Our goaltending was great today now we need the rest of the team to defend well.

Corona Brasov-Vienna Capitals 8-4 (4-0, 2-1, 2-3)
The game was decided in the first period as Brasov scored two even strength goals and two power play goals. Vienna was able to pick up a goal in the second period but then Brasov came back with two more. After a fight in the 50th minute the Capitals had the man advantage which they scored on but later had a shorthanded goal as well. Brasov came back with two goals. In the end Balázs Péter finished with two goals and two assists and Dániel Trance had two plus one on the other side Alexander Maxa finished with two goals and one assist.

Greg Lindqvist, head coach, Brasov: Our only goal today was to win and we locked in the third place in the regular season. This might have been a bad game but we scored eight goals.

Christian Dolezal, sports director, Capitals: It was a good game but Brasov scored more goals. We should have won today we had the chances but we did not score.

UTE-Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák 5-2 (1-0, 2-1, 2-1)
There was a total of 158 penalty minutes between the two teams.  UTE had more shots on net took advantage of their scoring chances. The home team had two power play goals were DAB scored once on the seven power plays that they had.  Attila Kovács scored the only goal of the first period but in the 23rd minute Franssila tied the game up for DAB. UTE scored two power play goals later in the period as Arnold Varga and András Benk. In the 45th minute Hebar made 4-1. Franssila scored again to make it a two goal game but in the end Stefishen scored an empty net goal.
