Fradi and MAC at the top of the Standings

Two Budapest clubs, Ferencváros and MAC are tied at the top of the standings with 15 points each, who because of the goal differential Fradi is first with MAC in second place.

Ferencváros traveled across the river from Pest to Buda to take on MAC. WIth the game tied at 1-1 after the first period, MAC scored three times in the second and twice in the third for the 6-1 victory. MAC defenceman Tamás Pozsgai finished with two goals and an assist. On Sunday Fradi got back up on their feet as they defeated Brasov by the score of 5-4. It was a back and forth game as the only time there was a two goal lead as Fradi being up 5-3. Logan MacMillen and Braden Walls had four points each in the losing effort.

MAC picked up the possible four points during the match week, on Monday night MAC came back after being down 3-0 after the first period. In the second period MAC scored three times, with the game winner being scored by Erik Keresztury in the third period.

The road trip did not go well for Brasov as they started off the match week with a game in Vienna. The Capitals had a 3-2 lead midway through the second period however Gergő Bíró tied the game up at 3-3 before the period was over. After a scoreless third period Richard Schlögl scored the game winner as the Capitals picked up their first win of the season. Julian Grosslercher finished the game with two goals.

Last season’s defending champions Diósgyőr are sitting in third place after picking up 5 out of 6 points over the past match week. DVTK opened up a 3-0 lead after the first period against Csíkszereda thanks to Bálint Magosi, Márk Miskolczi and Attila Pavuk. DVTK scored once more in the second and Csíkszereda in the third as the final score was 4-1. Last season Fehérvár always played well against DVTK and this was true this past week. The game was tied up at 1-1 after the first, 2-2 after the second and 3-3 at the end of regulation. After a scoreless overtime period János Vas scored the shootout game winner as DVTK kept two out of the three points at home.

Fehérvár started the week off strong with an upset win over UTE. The home team had a 2-0 lead after the first period on goals by Donát Szita and Derek Schoenmakers. Flórián Sándor made it 3-0 before UTE got on the scoreboard thanks to Zsolt Szalma and a short handed score by Krisztián Dósa. Kelin Ainsworth and Szita scored in the third period so set the final at 4-2. UTE recovered from the loss with a win over Csíkszereda, the home team had a 1-0 lead after the first period but the two teams were tied after the second period. In the closing period Kristóf Schmál scored his second goal of the game with Anze Ropret making it 4-2.

Dunújváros started the match week off by defeating the Vienna Capitals by the score of 7-2 behind the two goals scored by Zsolt Azari. However they were defeated by Csíkszereda who was finishing up their round trip. Csíkszereda took the final game of the road with the score of 4-1.
