Ferencváros stays unbeaten after second week

As the ERSTE Liga competition moved into the second week some teams picked up their first wins of the season, other were defeated for the first time. However Ferencváros stayed at the top of the standings.

After opening the season with two wins Ferencváros followed this up with wins against the Vienna Capitals, in Austria and a home ice win against Dunaújváros. Tamás Virág scored in the first minute of the game with Áron Könczei scored later to open up a 2-0 lead. Preston Shupe scored a shorthanded goal to make it 3-0. Nick Kuqali scored to get the Capitals on the scoreboard, the Austrian team tied the game up at 3-3. Dávid Szappanos put Fradi back up late in the second with Benjamin Nissner pulling Vienna back even early in the third. Szappanos scored later in the second and Jereme Tendler tacked on an empty netter. Against Dunaújváros the first goal was not scored until the middle of the second period by Arnold SIlló, Fradi answered back late in the period on a goal by Tamás Virág. The third period was all Fradi as they scored four unanswered goals for the 5-1 win.

MAC started the match week off with a one goal loss to Dunaújváros, after a scoreless 40 minutes Attila Orbán opened up the scoring for the visiting team in the third period. Less than a minute later Tomas Klempa had the game tied up at 1-1. Dominik Novotny and Mátyás Odnoga gave Dunaújváros a two goal lead, however in the closing minutes Gergő Nagy scored to make it 3-2. MAC rebounded from the loss with a win against a very strong UTE team. MAC jumped out to a 2-0 lead with Scott Maccaulay scoring on the two man advantage to make it 3-0. Ádám Hegyi scored a power play goal to get Újpest on the scoreboard. In the last five minutes of the game Bronson Kovács and recently signed Jesse Dudás both scored from outside to set the final at 5-1.

Despite the loss to MAC on Sunday, they opened up the match week on Friday with a shutout win against defending champions DVTK. Olivér Ágoston was the starting goalie who pitched the shutout. András Benk, Justin Cseter and Tihamér Becze all scored in the third period as UTE won 3-0.

Diósgyőr closed out the match week with a TV game on home ice against the Capitals. In the first period DVTK scored early and often as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead with four different scoring goals. Gert Karitnig found the back of the net to get Vianna going. That was all that the Austrian club could muster as DVTK would score one in the second and twice in the third. Bálint Magosi scored twice in the game.

Fehérvár made their first trip of the season out to Transylvania as they took on Csikszereda and Brasov. Against Csíkszereda Patrik Kiss opened up the scoring, in the second period Zsombor Antal tied it but less than a minute later Kelin Ainsworth had Fehérvár back on top. Fehérvár had a two goal lead at the start of the third however Szilárd Rokály and Alpár Salló tied it up at 3-3. In the final minute of play Ainsworth scored for Fehérvár as they stole the win in the final minute of the game. For the second game against Brasov, Kiss scored the opening goal again. Brasov took over as they scored three quick goals in the early part of the second period, with Árpád Mihály scoring in the closing minutes as Brasov had a 4-1 lead after two periods. Brasov ended up holding onto a 6-3 win.
