DVTK to Face MAC in the finals

With the elimination of SC Csíkszereda in the semi-finals DVTK Jegesmedvék have made it to their fourth finals in a row as they will face MAC Budapest for the third straight year. It to DVTK fives to move past the Transylvanian club.

The opening game of the series started off with Attila Adorján starting in net for DVTK with Ottó Onodi opposing him for Csíkszereda. Bálint Magosi gave DVTK the early 1-0 lead, later in the period Petr Schastlivy tied the game up at 1-1. The game did not stay tied for long as László Ritó scored seven seconds later to put DVTK back on top. With a minute left in the opening period Nikandrosz Galanisz gave DVTK a two score lead with a shorthanded goal. AFter Bálint Magosi made it 5-1, Csíkszereda made a switch in goal as Gellért Ruczuj came in for Ottó Onodi. The move shaked things up as Csíkszereda quickly picked up two scores as Csanád Fodor scored an unassisted goal and Andrey Taratukhin made it 5-3. After Radim Valchar scored Csíkszereda had come all the way back to being one goal down after two periods. Csíkszereda took advantage of a power play in the third period as Tamás Bíró scored with the extra attacker on the ice. Late in the period Anssi Rantanen scored the game winner when he deflected the puck off of his skate and past the keeper for the 6-5 win.

Csíkszereda stuck with Ruczuj for the second game of the series and the home team had Adorján between the pipes. After a scoreless first period Andrey Taratukhin scored on the first shift of the second period to open the scoring in the game. Minutes later Antssi Rantanen tied the game up for DVTK with a power play goal. Later in the period Roland Hajós gave DVTK their first lead of the game, however Csíkszereda answered back with a Peter Fabus goal as the two teams headed into the third period all tied up at 2-2. Márk Miskolczi broke up the tie game and later in the period a Bálint Magos score gave DVTK a two goal lead, which they held onto until the end of the game as they opened up a 2-0 series lead.

For game three the series moved to Transylvania. The starting goalies for game three remained unchanged. After a scoreless first period Andrey Taratukhin opened the scoring in the game in the 29th minute with an equal strength goal. Ten minutes later Taratukhin doubled the Csíkszereda lead. Both teams battled but the scored did not change until the final minute of play when Radim Valchar scored an empty net goal to make it 3-0. Ruczuj picked up the shutout win.

The starting goalies remained unchanged. Csanád Fodor gave the home team the 1-0 lead on the first shift of the game. Later in the period Tamás Bíró made it 2-0. DVTK called timeout to get their lines organized. The move looked to pay off as Rasmus Kulmala scored to cut their deficit in half. Late in the opening period the teams exchanged scores as Petry Schastlivy scored for the home team and Kulmala for the visitors. After a scoreless second period the teams headed into the third with Csíkszereda holding a one goal lead. Early in the third period Tamás Bíró scored a power play goal to put Csíkszereda up by two scores. The game took a turn in the 48th minutes when János Vas scored with the extra attacker to make it a one goal game. Later in the period DVTK would score three times in under 1:30 to flip the score. Peter Sakaris tied the game up with Adrián Tóth finding the back of the net as DVTK took their first lead of the game. Kulmala scored completed his hat trick as DVTK took a two goal lead. WIth just under five minutes left in the game Maxim Potapov got Csíkszereda back within one, but Balázs Láda scored an empty net goal for the two goal win.

For game five Csíkszereda switched goalies as Onodi started in net, Adorján remained for DVTK. The home team scored first as Clin Joe and Ákos Berta scored 20 seconds apart to give the home team a 2-0 lead. Bálint Magosi made it 3-0 for DVTK, after the third Jegesmedve goal Csíkszereda switched goalies as Gellért Ruczuj came in for Onodi. The changed looked to be working at first as Hugó Gecse ended the shutout that Adorján had going. However just over a minute later Nikandrosz Galanisz made it 4-1. The score remained unchanged for the rest of the period and the game.
